About Me

My photo
I am a single, yes, very single (not to be confused with desperate). I am a Navy Brat, and grew up in many places. I have been here for the last 12+ years, I call it home. I have a fantastic family, wonderful roommates, a good job, and a cute car. I really don't know what else to say about myself, so I'll leave it at this for now.

I like solo road trips

I ended up having a four day weekend, and went to visit my mom who is currently living just outside Eager/Springerville area, on the New Mexico side. I left Thursday after work after getting an oil change and checking tire pressure and topping my gas tank off.

The weather was windy and rainy much of the way, but the roads were clear and traffic was good. I made it to Eager right about 8:30 pm.

When Aunt Theresa and I walked into the house Soldier was so excited to see me. I got on the floor with him and took a few pictures. Then I greeted mamma.

It was a nice time to just relax a little and be out of the city. The rain was wonderful, and the skies were gorgeous. The land is open and amazing. I loved the beautiful wheat colored hills contrasted with the dark mountains in the background overshadowed by the blackened clouds casting ominous shadows over them. The air seemed fresh and unpolluted, which was really nice compared to the city air I'm used to.

Friday morning I woke up early, though I wished I could have slept in. Mamma and I went to Reservation, NM with Aunt Theresa. We went to a great "Black Gold Emporium" or mini mart while Aunt Theresa took care of her business at the DMV. We also wandered around a furniture store with nothing really good. Then, we walked in the rain to the DMV and waited with Aunt Theresa. We had some funny conversations regarding childhood memories (toilet paper rations) and I can't recall what else.

That evening mamma and I checked out a bookstore that smell like old books, which I loved, as well as a little shop with handmade jewelry. When we were on our way back to the house it was raining pretty consistently. By the time we got to the turn off of 60 to the house the road was muddy. It was a fun 8 mile drive on the mud/gravel road. By the time we got to the house my car was covered in mud! It was two-toned and getting out of the car was pretty funny. I didn't want to get all muddy, but there was no way around it. I think I grew a good two inches walking from my car to the house, with all the mud stuck on the bottoms of my shoes.

When we got in house I was so sleepy.

Aunt Theresa made us burgers for dinner (their favorite-not sure if it's because their last name is Burger, but I think it could be). After we ate I got the 3rd degree from Uncle Ken regarding my dating life. It was quite entertaining actually. By 9pm I was exhausted and ready for bed. So, I was in bed early.

Today the drive was gorgeous coming home! The mountains in all their glory rose above the valleys and canyons in such a way to look absolutely majestic against the cloud filled sky. I got home at 12:30 exactly and was happy to be home. The temperature here was not too bad.

When I got out of my car I had to take a look at it to see the dirt. It really is the dirtiest it has ever been. And to think I just washed and waxed it Wednesday!

All in all I realized I really had an enjoyable time driving! Previously I used to get sleepy within minutes of getting in the car...this time I was completely awake and alert and loved the drive. Nature is something I want to explore more often.
